MEMBER PROFILE: Hagen–Anchor
Lighting
Hagen-Anchor Lighting is an energy services company that focuses
exclusively on
energy-efficient lighting solutions. Bruce Hagen and Jack Anchor started
the company six years ago and have since worked with many types of
facilities. The company's real niche is indoor water parks, which have
unique lighting requirements. For instance, the chemically charged
indoor water park environment requires noncorrosive, vaportite light
fixtures. Hagen-Anchor is the national distributor for these and other
light fixtures representing four lighting manufacturers. All products
provided by Hagen-Anchor Lighting are made in America, with the
exception of the lamps, as there is no control for where they are
produced. Hagen-Anchor Lighting also designs hardware to mount and house
the fixtures in difficult locations.
Hagen has an office in Superior and Anchor in Wisconsin Dells, the
self-proclaimed "water park capital of the world." They hire local
contractors for each project. Their five-step process includes an audit,
energy analysis, energy-efficient solution, full proposal and project
management. Working with respective utility companies to validate their
analyses and research energy-efficient incentives, Hagen-Anchor assists
customers in achieving optimum energy and cost savings.
"Every energy-efficient lighting fixture that is installed reduces the
need to build more power plants," Hagen explains. "Our attention is on
lighting that provides tangible payback to our customers through
cost-saving investments."
"I have a long-standing relationship with the Development Association
from my other community roles," said Hagen, who has served three terms
as Superior's mayor. "As a business owner, and former public servant, I
can't stress enough how important it is for the entire community,
county, and all business and labor organizations to be a part of and
promote the Development Association as the leading economic development
agency for Superior and Douglas counties."
MEMBER PROFILE: WorldWide
Machining & Welding, Inc.
WorldWide
Machining & Welding, Inc., is a locally owned company that provides
welding,
machining, fabrication and custom design services to processing
facilities, shops and other operations. The company recently added
hydraulic services, including motor, pump and cylinder repair and
custom-built hydraulic power units.
WorldWide specializes in complicated, large-scale projects, yet also
handles smaller jobs. Its 12,000-square-foot facility features
leading-edge technology and equipment, guided by certified operators.
"We've worked on some innovative projects throughout the area," says
John Anderson, president. "For example, we redesigned, fabricated and
machined an automated launch pin system for
Enbridge Energy's pipeline system. It makes their batching more
efficient and gives them a competitive edge in transporting crude oil.
Most of all, we are creative problem solvers. We consider all the
options and design custom solutions to meet our customers' needs."
Anderson says they are members of the Development Association to help
grow their own business as well as attract new and expanding companies
to the area. "Growth benefits all of us," Anderson says.
