Member Profile: Eisenmann & Associates

Eisenmann & Associates is an insurance and financial services firm that provides customized financial programs to help clients achieve short and long-term financial goals. Richard "Ike" Eisenmann started the independent company in September of 2005, and he employs three other advisors that specialize in personal and business risk management, along with retirement planning.

"We are a small, independent financial services company," says Eisenmann of his Superior business. "We feel that we work with our family, friends and neighbors, people that normally may not otherwise have the opportunity to work with financial professionals."

Offering a number of services, such as retirement strategies, estate conservation and insurance products, Eisenmann & Associates implements sound, financial programs catered to individual needs.

Eisenmann says it is important for clients to feel confident in their retirement strategies, which is why his practice encourages client participation and involves the client throughout the entire process. "We give them the options that help them make a decision of how they manage their money. Through education, they can make an informed decision."

Eisenmann and Associates recently started a property and casualty insurance agency from scratch and is looking forward to growth opportunities that lie ahead, such as adding another advisor and possibilities of more office staff.

Eisenmann has been a member of the Development Association for a number of years. "I think the Development Association is one of the most critical organizations we have in Superior and Douglas County, because they help recruit, educate, develop and maintain our local businesses."

Member Profile: Superior Inn

Superior Inn is a family-owned business that has been providing affordable accommodations for out of town guests for over 30 years. Chief Operating Officer Kay Biga took over hotel operations in 1984, soon after the death of her father, who had purchased the building just six months prior. Offering 69 rooms, including a Jacuzzi suite and a balcony room overlooking the pool area, the Superior Inn prides itself on its low prices and family-friendly atmosphere.

"We cater to travelers on a budget," says Biga, who owns the hotel with her mother, Jan Biga. "We try the best we can to accommodate a lot of people in our price segment."

Since Biga began operating Superior Inn, the hotel has added a pool, sauna and whirlpool; all features Biga says have contributed to increased family clientele. Currently employing 28 people, Superior Inn is also one of the few area hotels that accommodates pets, which gives Superior Inn a competitive advantage.

"There are a lot of pet owners who want to travel, so we get a fair amount of traffic because of that," says Biga.

Biga also explains that much of the hotel's everyday business comes from weekly renters, construction workers, people in between housing and sales people who come to town on a regular basis.

"When [area businesses] bring visitors and suppliers to town, we do a good job of accommodating these guests," says Biga. "We can give a good, personalized service, and we appreciate getting patronized by other businesses in town.

Biga states that the Superior Inn is a member of the Development Association to both join in on efforts to support the city of Superior in terms of development and also so that she can stay informed about what is going on in the business community.
